Lechwe Trust Art Gallery is hosting ‘VeraCity’, an exhibition of recent artworks by Mwamba Mulangala, one of the most academically trained artists in Zambia.

Mulangala has kept very close touch with the lives of ordinary Zambians, and their lifestyle. His paintings show a genuine common insight of readily found materials given new life into artworks.

Mulangala provokes the norm with unconventional materials such as cardboard, polyethylene fabric, chitenge cloth and opaque beer cartons.

The future of Zambian art is safely being handed over to younger generations and Mwamba is doing his part as a popular, inspiring, and renowned teacher of art at the American School of Lusaka.

The exhibition is curated by Raphael Chikukwa, Executive Director of National Gallery of Zimbabwe and Founding Curator of the Zimbabwe Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.

The exhibition is open to the public until 19th June, 2022.

Artworks and VeraCity Exhibition catalogues are available for sale.
