Job Opportunity ~ Gallery Administrator
Lechwe Trust (LT) is a charitable Trust whose primary aim is to promote and encourage the visual arts in Zambia and provides assistance and encouragement to Zambian artists to further their artistic education. Since its inception in 1986, the LT has built up a collection of nearly 400 works of Zambian art which continues to grow. This is the single largest private collection of art in Zambia and of great strategic importance for the visual arts in this country portraying Zambia’s public history, evolving culture and collective memory. We are currently looking for a Gallery Administrator to join our small team. This position requires a multi-skilled, goal- team-oriented person with excellent customer relations, and is suited to a dynamic, highly organised person.
Role
Responsibilities and general accountability encompass but are not restricted to the following:
- Budgeting, payroll management, finance and accounts
- Programme administration and management
- Public relations, marketing and promotion
- Education and outreach
- Exhibitions and events programme development
- Art related activities that generate income
- Cooperation with similar or related institutions and organisations
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Degree in Business Management/ Administration
- Minimum of 5 years’ demonstrable work experience in financial and general management
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent IT skills including spreadsheets, social media and database management
- Supervisory and managerial skills
- Strong administrative and planning skills
- Experience working in the not-for-profit sector fundraising and/or philanthropic fundraising, and genuine interest in and enthusiasm for art would be an added advantage
- Valid driving licence
