Dennis Jere is a Zambian impressionist and abstract artist whose practice merges artistic expression with activism.

For over a decade, Jere has raised awareness about availability safe and clean water, a fundamental human right still out of reach for many communities across Zambia.

We Are Tired!! confronts the enduring water crisis and the silence of leaders in power. This body of work responds to decades of neglect, that promises of progress have failed to bring meaningful change. Through bold colours, layered textures, and abstract forms, Jere captures the weight of absence, silence and hardship caused by lack of clean, safe drinking water - the forgotten ‘elephant in the room’.

Jere’s paintings echo the lived realities of many Zambians: frequent cholera outbreaks leading to loss of life, children missing school to fetch water, women walking long distances in search of it, and water sources shared with livestock. These daily struggles are conveyed through emotional intensity and symbolic suggestion.

Each work poses a pressing question: “How long must we endure this silence? We are Tired!!”

This exhibition invites viewers to reflect, to feel, and ultimately, to act.

We are Tired!! closes 1800hrs, July 20th 2025
